On-Site Service Engineer – Automation (m/f/d)

What you can expect
As an On-Site Service Engineer - Automation, you will be based in the vicinity of Austin, Texas, ensuring system availability both from your home office and directly at our customer's site.

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Maximizing system availability: Ensuring the highest possible uptime for our complex automated x-ray systems.
  • Preventing interruptions: Working to ensure manufacturing processes are as continuous as possible.
  • Proactive maintenance: Performing inspections and preventive maintenance to keep systems in top condition.
  • Rapid response: Executing quick fault analysis and effective troubleshooting in the event of a system failure.
This position requires no travels, because you will be required to service one of our customers in Austin, Texas either on customer site or from your home office.
What you should bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer or Control Engineering, or an Associate Degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Instrumentation & Control, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Automation or Service Engineer, with strong hands-on expertise in Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal.
  • Proven experience in PLC programming, hardware commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering and basic mechanical understanding.
  • Experience with LabVIEW is preferred, or a strong willingness to acquire LabVIEW skills.
  • Strong system-level thinking with the ability to understand complex technical systems; a generalist mindset rather than a pure software programmer.
  • High self-motivation, sense of responsibility, stress resilience, and a structured, solution-oriented working style.
  • Business-fluent English skills and willingness to live close to the customer site in Austin, Texas, to ensure high system availability.
  • Valid drivers license required
